Marine research takes to the streets of Olivia represented under the image of real women who, every day, work for science from the CSIC's Marine Research Institute in Vigo. The "Women of Science in Your Neighborhood" initiative, an adaptation of the award-winning original idea of the University of Zaragoza, will fill the canopies throughout the city with photographs of these workers who will also tell the public a little about their hobbies, tastes and interests outside the field of science through a present sentence on each image. All to demonstrate that women who do science are normal and close women, and to promote an approach of society to the world of research and innovation. The campaign is organized by the IIM-CSIC Scientific Culture Unit, with the collaboration of the Vigo City Council in installing the canopies.

The event consists of an exhibition of 12 photographs of researchers, pre-doctoral researchers and technicians from the IIM-CSIC on up to 30 billboards (canopies) ceded in collaboration by the Vigo City Council. They will all have a quote in which the protagonist tells about her work in the field of science as well as a hobby or interest from her personal life. The installation began on February 6 and will remain on the streets until February 27.

In this way, it is intended to break stereotypes and reinforce the idea that science is close and accessible and that the women who work in it are another group of citizens of our city with hobbies, friends, family members and diverse interests like #anyone another person.
